Exit Exams: Subjects Tested
Why does it matter? States need to know how well their students can read and write and (and how well they know their history, science, math, etc.)
Highlights:
States are slowly phasing in new subjects to be tested in their exit exams.
Florida, for example, will include a writing component to their exit exam which currently has a reading and math test (eff. class of 2010). Methodology: This information was collected from state statutes, rules and regulations, and state education agency Web sites, and will be updated as new policies and programs are enacted. Sources for all data points are available through this link. Last updated: June 18, 2007 Research conducted by Michael Colasanti.
