Virtual High Schools: Cost per Course/Semester?
This database shows, where available, the cost of a course per semester.
Why does it matter? Policymakers need to know if the costs and fiscal impact of virtual school programs are sustainable.
Highlights:
Costs range from $50 per student per semester to $800 per student per semester.
Idaho stipulates that the student is responsible for the cost of courses outside the regular school day.
West Virginia may require a student to pay if the course is already offered in his/her school. Methodology: This information was collected from state statutes, rules and regulations, and state education agencies, and will be updated as new policies and programs are enacted. Sources for all data points are available through this link. Last updated: December 3, 2007 Research conducted by Melodye Bush and Michael Colasanti.
