Florida Honors/College Prep Diploma Option

These requirements are for the optional honors/college prep diploma pathway in Florida, effective with the Class of 2008.

Florida : High School Graduation Requirements
Honors/College Prep Diploma or Endorsement
State has honors/college prep diploma or endorsement Yes, eff. Class of 2008. 
English units (H/CP) Same as std. 
Math units (H/CP) 3 (see notes)
Notes/Citation: All units must be "at the Algebra I level or higher from the list of courses that qualify for state university admission."  
Social studies units (H/CP) Same as std.
Notes/Citation: Unlike in 4-year diploma, students may not receive .5 unit social studies credit for voluntary community or school service work. 
Science units (H/CP) 3 (see notes)
Notes/Citation: Same as std. (2 of 3 units must be lab science) but Agriscience I may not fulfill 1 unit of the requirement. 
P.E./Health units (H/CP) Std.-1 (0) 
Arts units (H/CP) 0 (Std=see notes)
Notes/Citation: Standard diploma requires 1 unit fine arts or practical arts or .5 unit each 
Foreign Language units (H/CP) Std.+2 (Std=0)
Notes/Citation: 2 units in same language  
Electives units (H/CP) Std.-5.5 
Other units (H/CP)

Technical notes and citations (H/CP) "Three-year standard college preparatory program" option is effective Class of 2007. Students must also have minimum grade point average. Students must also complete at least 6 of the 18 units in honors, dual enrollment, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), Advanced International Certificate of Education, weighted courses, or courses identified by the department as rigorous. Eff. Class of 2010, weighted and honors courses do not automatically fulfill the 6 out of 18 units requirement.
This option is not fully aligned with state-set college admissions course requirements.
